SOA Community Radio broadcasts special program on World Menstrual Hygiene Day

A program on World Menstrual Hygiene Day was broadcast by the Voice of SOA Community Radio 90.4, the community radio station of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) here on Tuesday.

The station broadcast the program ‘Period Friendly World’ which aligned with this year’s theme for the day.

The day is observed to focus on the importance of menstrual health and recognize the complete physical, mental and social well being of women and girls in relation to the menstrual cycle.

Prof. Manjula Das, SOA’s Controller of Examination, who was present on the occasion distributed eco-friendly sanitary pads to the women house-keeping staff of the university.

Ms. Honey Patnaik, In-charge of the radio station, emphasized the importance of such awareness programs saying “such programs help in breaking the stigma around menstruation and ensure that women have access to the necessary hygiene.”

Radio Jockeys Subhashree Subhasmita Swain, Subhashree Patra, Subhashree Sahoo Coordinated the program.
