SOA alumni chosen outstanding leader in hospitality industry in Middle East

Sonam Das, an alumni of the School of Hotel Management (SHM), faculty of hospitality and tourism management of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here and presently positioned as Housekeeping Manager at Kempinski Hotel Mall of Emirates, Dubai, has been chosen as one of the outstanding leaders in the hospitality industry in the Middle East for 2024.

An alumnus of SHM’s 2012 batch, Das was recently picked as Hospitality’s Best 30 Housekeeping Leaders in the Middle East for 2024. The event, organised by hospitality.com, was held in an aura of grandeur while

showcasing the remarkable achievements of leaders who have made significant contributions to the hospitality sector.

Das, who has 11 years of dedicated experience, began her journey with Hyatt Hotels in 2012 through campus placement after graduating from the SHM with a gold medal. Progressing from the position of Supervisor at Marriot Hotels during its pre-opening phase in Dubai in 2017, she stepped into her first managerial position with Hyatt Hotels before assuming the present role at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.

Throughout her career, Das had embraced the philosophy of continuous learning and team engagement as she believed that growth is a perpetual journey. During her days in the college campus, she always engaged in a variety of activities which enabled her to learn soft skills, demonstrate leadership acumen and show a commitment to personal growth beyond academics.

After receiving the award, an elated Das was all praise for her alma mater and thanked the management for providing her the opportunities to develop her skills and shape her career.
