National Conference on Pediatric Rheumatology held at IMS and SUM Hospital

Around 300 delegates from across the country attended the three-day 22nd National Conference on Pediatric Rheumatology (NCPR-2024) which concluded at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on October 27.

The conference’s objective was to raise awareness about rheumatological and immunological issues in children.

Dr. Dirk Foell and Dr. N. Dhanya Lakshmi, two experts in the subject from Germany who attended the conference, shared their experience on auto-inflammatory diseases and genetics.

Endocrinologists Dr. Swayam Siddha and Dr. Manoranjan Tripathi spoke on the issue of Pediatric Osteoporosis.

The inaugural program was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra, Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital and Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of the hospital. Prof. (Dr.) Mamata Devi Mohanty, Head of Department of Pediatrics and Prof. (Dr.) Mrutyunjaya Dash, Course Director were present.

As many as 150 students had presented their research papers in pediatric rheumatology and immunology during the conference while a quiz program was organised for post-graduate and super speciality students.

Prof. (Dr.) Prasant Kumar Saboth, Prof. (Dr.) Bikrant Kumar Prusty, both Professors, Dr. Braja Kishore Behera, Dr. Bibhudatta Dash, both Associate Professors, Dr. Nitish Jena, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Patra, Dr. Abinash Nayak, Dr. Subhajit and Dr. Sidhant Swarup, all Assistant Professors were involved in the event of which Dr. Debasis Patro, Pediatric Rheumatologist, was the Organising Secretary.
