IMS and SUM hospital wins top prize for innovative study on diabetes
The Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) here, has won the first prize for innovative study at the India chapter conference of the American College of Physicians (ACP) held recently at Lucknow.
The department won the prize for its innovative study on diabetic complications related to ‘Assessment of Hypogonadism and its determinants among adult men with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus’ conducted by DM Endocrinology resident Dr. Jaspreet Singh under the guidance of Professor Dr. Jayshree Swain.
According the Prof. Swain, the department had also received widespread recognition for its earlier contributions including best paper prize in ACP India chapter conference held last year as well.
The department had published several research papers on Diabetes and Endocrinology related topics which were highly commended within the medical fraternity for their depth and impact and won the first prize at the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) conference in 2023.
These awards and recognitions reflected the department’s unwavering commitment to advancing diabetes research and improving patient care while addressing complex medical challenges with innovative solutions, Prof. Swain said.
