Vietnamese Cultural Troupe enthral SOA audience with cultural show
A 20-member cultural troupe from Vietnam, on a visit to SOA Deemed to be University here, held a packed auditorium spell bound with their scintillating performance on Wednesday.
The performers, who represented the picturesque Ninh Thuan province of Vietnam, showcased a variety of dances linked to the Cham civilization which originated in 400 BCE and continued till 1400 CE.
The Cham dances, also known as Apsara dance, have much similarities with the classical and warrior dances of Odisha.
Mr. Van Cong Hoa, Vice-Director, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province of Vietnam, who is heading the troupe, spoke about Vietnam’s long-standing friendship with India thanked SOA for organizing the event.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Director of University Outreach Program Prof. Nachieketa K. Sharma, Regional Director, NSS, Dr. Sarita Patel and Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das were present.
Students of SOA also presented several items including Odissi dance, folk dances and a Rajasthani song which enthralled the audience.
