Free bone, joint and spine camp held at SUM Hospital Sitalapalli Campus
A large number of patients attended a free bone, joint and spine consultation and treatment camp held at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital’s campus at Sitalapalli here on Sunday.
Experienced orthopedic and neurosurgery experts examined the patients and counseled them about the diagnosis and treatment plan.
The patients were also extended significant discount on essential radiology services including X-ray, CT Scan and MRI Scan with expert radiologists interpreting the findings without any additional cost.
“The free bone, joints and spine camp was an initiative to provide specialized medical care to the community and promote awareness about bone and joint health. By extending diagnostic services and expert care at a discount we aimed to alleviate the burden of medical expenses on the patients,” Dr. R.C. Deo, Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at IMS and SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar, said.
Dr. Ranjit Patra, Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics, said the primary goal of the camp was to reach out to people who needed specialized bone and joint care but did not have the means to access the same. “The response was overwhelming,” he said.
Several patients also expressed their happiness and gratitude for being able to access medical help. “Thanks to this camp, I not only got a diagnosis but also a treatment plan. I am greatly thankful to the hospital and the medical team,” an elderly patient said.
Mr. Deba Prasad Dash, Director of the hospital said recognizing the need for such services, the hospital at Sitalapalli will be conducting this camp every Sunday. “The free camp was a resounding success,” he declared.
Dr. Subhasish Pattnaik and Dr. Sarita Panda from the department of Physiotherapy guided and helped the patients.
