Eminent Researcher on Mahabharat visits SOA
Prof. Arlo Griffiths, a Professor of Southeast Asian History and eminent researcher, on Wednesday visited the SOA Centre for Preservation, Propagation and Restoration of Ancient Culture and Heritage of India (PPRACHIN) here to acquaint himself with the work being done at the centre.
Prof. Griffiths showed keen interest about the publication of critical edition of the original Sarola Mahabharatha by PPRACHIN.
Presently based in Indonesia, Prof. Griffiths is presently working as professor at the French School of Asian Studies. He is conducting research on Mahabharat for the last 20 years and is a frequent visitor to Odisha. He speaks Odia fluently and was in the city to attend the 1st World Odia Language Conference held recently.
He also called on SOA Founder President Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak for exchange of views. SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda as also Prof. Gouranga Charan Das, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Panda and Prof. Santosh Rath, who are members of PPRACHIN’S editorial board for Sarola Mahabharatha, were present.
