SOA organises program on dangers of drugs
In a bid to create awareness about the danger of drug use and the associated legal complexities it invites among students, a program was organised by the National Social Service (NSS) unit of SOA here on Thursday.
The program, organised ahead of the International Drug Abuse Day on June 26, was addressed by Mr. Biswanath Ghosh, Intelligence Officer in the Narcotics Control Bureau under the Union Home ministry.
Mr. Ghosh explained about various drugs and the dangers they posed to the society. He told the students about the danger of carrying drug in person as it clashed with the law of the land.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, who also spoke on the occasion, told the students as to how they should keep away from such dangerous substances.
Prof. Nachieketa K. Sharma, Director of University Outreach Program and Coordinator, NSS, provided a report on the various anti-narcotics programs conducted by the university over the last five years.
The program, also addressed by Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) and Prof. Bijay Kumar Sahu, Dean, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, was attended by faculty members, NSS program officers and over 300 NSS volunteers. Prof. Saroj Kumar Mohanty, NSS Program Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.
